Adopt

Adopting a senior dog is a commitment to loving and caring for a dog in their golden years.

Adopting a senior dog takes a special person.

Our adopters know senior dogs won’t live forever but believe senior dogs are JUST as deserving of a good home, a warm bed, and to be loved for who they are. Do you have room in your heart and home for a senior dog?

Adopting a senior dog is incredibly rewarding.

Senior dogs are often the most overlooked at shelters and the first to be surrendered. We believe senior dogs make the best pets because they are often more low-energy than puppies, are easier to manage, and are so thankful to have a loving home to live out their golden years.

Adoption Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • If you rent, you must have written permission from your landlord.
  • You must live in Colorado. At this time, we do not do out-of-state adoptions.
  • Children must be at least 7 years of age. Rescued dogs have been through a lot, and we do not know their background with young children. Older children are recommended based on data from the Center of Disease Control, which reports that among children, those 5-9 years old have the highest rate of dog bite-related injuries in the U.S. Most commonly, children are bitten by the family dog when hugging them, handling them, or trying to take resources away from them. We require this age minimum for the safety of the rescued dog, children, and all household members.

Adoption Fees

Our senior dogs are available for adoption for a fee of $150 – $275 and are set at the discretion of the rescue.

If you are 65 years of age or older, you qualify for our Seniors for Seniors discount, which is an adoption fee of $50.

Adoption Fees Cover:

  • Vet Exam
  • Spay/Neuter
  • Dental
  • Vaccinations
  • Microchip
  • Grooming (if needed)
  • Additional Diagnostics (if needed)
  • Behavioral Evaluation

How We Place Dogs

We place adoptable senior dogs based on the best fit between the animal’s needs and personality and the potential adoptive family. Dogs are not first come first serve, and we reserve the right not to place a dog where we do not see a good fit.
